   Enriching our Students

The English B'Yachad Program

In order to provide students with the best possible tools to integrate into the high tech industry, we invest great effort in helping them improve their English. English B'Yachad, a program of Skilled Volunteers for Israel, provides Tech-Career students with a great opportunity to improve their spoken and written English skills in preparation for high tech careers, by matching them with volunteer mentors with whom they meet once a week on Zoom. The program also provides students with an additional opportunity to work on their CVs and prepare for job interviews in English. Beyond language studies, the program creates connections between Jews from all over the world, and volunteers learn about the Ethiopian Israeli community. Since June 2020, more than 360 Tech-Career students, graduates and staff have participated in the program. Our warmest thanks go out to Marla Gamoran, Skilled Volunteers' Executive Director, Dr. Minna Wolf, English B'Yachad's program director, and all the wonderful volunteers.

Career Preparation Program

Over the past months we continued to provide students with a wide variety of soft skills: job interview preparation, CV writing, storytelling and job search workshops, lectures with industry experts and mentoring.
In the framework of the mentoring program, senior tech personnel at leading companies accompanied Tech-Career students and graduates and assisted them in finding their first position in the industry, providing professional guidance and support for a six-month period.
Students in the different courses benefitted from networking workshops with Microsoft, took part in public speaking workshops, enjoyed motivation lectures by Tech-Career graduates, and lectures on identity and belonging by Tech-Career CEO Takele Mekonen. They also gained important skills through financial management and LinkedIn workshops.
Full Stack graduates also received guidance and user licenses for the Israeli app Tabnine, which assists in proper and effective code writing.
